Hercules Residence Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Hercules Residence on Mirmidonon Street, you immediately get the sense that this isn’t your typical tourist hotel. The building has this understated elegance — it’s clearly a four-star property, but without any of that flashy over-the-top stuff that can feel so impersonal. What struck me right away was how quiet this little corner of Athens feels, even though you’re really not that far from the action. The location offers a perfect balance between peaceful surroundings and easy access to major attractions.
The Neighborhood Advantage
Here’s what I love about this location — you’re in a proper residential area where actual Athenians live their daily lives. I mean, there’s something refreshing about stepping out and seeing locals heading to work or chatting at the corner café, rather than just endless souvenir shops. The metro connections are honestly excellent from here, and you can reach the Acropolis or Plaka without much fuss. But you know what? Sometimes it’s nice to just wander the neighborhood streets and stumble upon those little tavernas that don’t even have English menus. The surrounding streets reveal authentic local culture at every turn.
Inside the Property
The room I stayed in was exactly what you’d want after a long day of sightseeing — clean, comfortable, and surprisingly spacious for Athens standards. The air conditioning actually works properly (trust me, this matters in summer), and the Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out every five minutes like some places I’ve experienced. What I appreciated most was the attention to small details — decent lighting for reading, enough outlets for your devices, and a bathroom that doesn’t require contortionist skills to use the shower. Every element has been thoughtfully designed for guest comfort.
Daily Rhythms
Mornings here have this lovely, unhurried quality. The staff genuinely seems to care about making sure you’re sorted for the day ahead, and they’re full of practical suggestions about getting around the city. I found myself actually looking forward to coming back each evening — there’s something about the atmosphere that just feels welcoming rather than institutional. The common areas never felt crowded, and there’s this sense that everyone’s just quietly going about their Athens adventure. This creates an environment where relaxation feels natural.
Why Guests Love It
Honestly, it comes down to location and that intangible feeling of being somewhere authentic. The fact that couples consistently rate this place so highly tells you something — it’s got that sweet spot of being peaceful enough for romance but connected enough that you’re not spending half your vacation on public transport. You’re getting genuine value here, the kind where you feel like you’ve discovered something rather than just booked another hotel. After staying at Hercules Residence, those big chain hotels in the tourist center start to feel pretty soulless by comparison. This property delivers an experience that lingers long after checkout.

Very clean place, walking distance to the attractions, the center, etc

We have chosen this apartment because of the play room, where our boy could spend some time before he went to sleep:) The apartment and also the gym were well equipped, and our host was very kind and helped us out immediatelly when we had trouble with the spotlights.

Beautiful property with a lot of space. Each of the 3 bedrooms had a bathroom & shower which is a plus when traveling with family. There are wonderful options for dining out but if you feel like staying in, there is a full kitchen and a grocery store only a 5 minute walk from the property. The wrap around balcony was wonderful & a great place to relax after a long day. We loved that each room had an entrance onto the balcony so we could go in & out without disturbing anyone. There is a free washer & dryer which is so unusual when traveling. Eva is a great host & very responsive to anything you need. Highly recommend.

We stayed as a family (parents, two kids, and grandma). It is at the heart of the city, close to everywhere, in a beautiful neighborhood. The flat was immaculate, and the kitchen was very spacious and neat. It may be time for the frying pan to retire, though. The agent, Eva, was beneficial and easy to reach through WhatsApp.

At first the host was awesome. 😊
She was always available and was helping in every situation.
The property’s location is excellent. There is a metro station (Kerameikos) just for 7 minutes walking. There are supermarkets and of course cafes & restaurants near the metro station where you can have great brunch. 😊
The property was comfortable. There was everything for your cooking as well.
It has a nice balcony where you can enjoy your breakfast.😊
The area is so calm, safe and nothing will bother you from good sleep.Lusine from Armenia (9/10)

The location was close to the city centre, walking distance to good restaurants and in a safe neighbourhood. The accommodation was modern and clean. It had a good gym and play area for the kids and very spacious.
Sune from Denmark (9/10)
Lovely modern and spacious apartment with all the utilities that you need. The balconies are a nice touch. I didn’t use mine that much except for hanging out towels to dry, because I was out all day and it was too cold to sit out there at night (late October). But I Bet it could work Well in the summer time for a morning coffee or late night beer 🙂
The neighborhood is pretty quiet and peaceful, But you only have to Walk for a few minutes to find a vibrant atmosphere in the Old narrow streets with bars and restaurants, which I really liked. Seems like this area is popular among the local Athenians, so if you are going for the authentic Vibe, consider stopping by for a drink or meal here 🙂 Also, the city center is only like a 15 minute Walk from the apartment, and you Can reach most sights by foot, so I Think the location is perfect 😊
