You know what really caught me off guard about Lux Apartment in Pagrati? It’s tucked away in this absolutely perfect neighborhood that somehow most tourists completely miss. I mean, Pagrati is one of those areas where actual Athenians live – you’ll hear more Greek than English on the streets, which honestly makes the whole experience feel way more authentic.

The apartment itself lives up to its name, and I don’t say that lightly because I’ve stayed in plenty of places that promise luxury and deliver IKEA furniture. This place actually has character – high ceilings that keep things cool even in summer, these gorgeous hardwood floors that creak just slightly when you walk around (in a charming way, not an annoying way), and windows that let in this amazing morning light. The kitchen is properly equipped too, which matters if you’re like me and want to grab fresh produce from the local market instead of eating out every single meal. Speaking of which, there’s this incredible little bakery about two blocks away where the owner – I think his name was Dimitris – makes these phyllo pastries that are honestly better than anything I had in the tourist areas.

What I really love about staying here is how it puts you right in the rhythm of the neighborhood. You’ll wake up to the sound of people heading to work, not tour buses rumbling past your window. The nearby streets have these great little tavernas where locals actually eat (you can tell because the menus aren’t translated into five languages), and there’s a small park where old men play backgammon in the afternoons – it’s exactly the kind of scene you hope to stumble upon but rarely do. The Metro isn’t far either, so getting to the Acropolis or Plaka takes maybe fifteen minutes, but you get to come back to this peaceful residential vibe instead of being stuck in the middle of all that chaos. I stayed here in late spring and the whole area just felt alive but not overwhelming, if that makes sense. The only tiny downside? The building entrance is a bit tricky to find the first time – it’s one of those situations where you’ll probably walk past it twice before realizing you’re looking for the right door. But honestly, that just adds to the local feel of the whole experience.

  The apartment looked very luxurious and modern. There was a nice shared space and a cute balcony. The kitchen was well stocked and there was plenty of storage space. The host provided cold water bottles for us for our first night. The host let us have a late checkout free of charge
  
  What could be improved: The apartment wasn't the cleanest – there was dust and hair in the corners and drawers. The shower adjacent to the room was covered in limescale and the shower head was so blocked the pressure was terrible.

  The decoration is extremely nice, the towels and sheets were a bit old. Having a balcony and being close to the city center are extra nice aspects.

  הדירה קרובה למרכז אתונה, האזור שקט ורגוע עם מסעדות וברים. כמובן שנחזור בשנית 🙂
