MiCasa SuCasa / Heart of Athens / Brand-New superlux Overview
You know what really surprised me about MiCasa SuCasa / Heart of Athens / Brand-New superlux? It actually lives up to that bold name – and honestly, I was skeptical at first because, let’s face it, that’s quite a mouthful for a hotel name. But after spending a few nights there, I get it. This place really does make you feel at home while dropping you right into the pulse of Athens.
The “brand-new” part isn’t just marketing speak – everything still has that crisp, untouched feel without being sterile or cold. I mean, the fixtures in my room literally gleamed, and there’s this subtle new-construction smell that’s actually pleasant (you know how that can go either way). What caught me off guard was how they managed to blend modern luxury with touches that feel authentically Greek. The lobby has these gorgeous marble accents that remind you exactly which ancient civilization invented the concept, but paired with contemporary lighting that creates this warm, almost golden atmosphere in the evenings.
Location-wise, they weren’t kidding about the “Heart of Athens” bit. I could walk to most of the major sites – the Acropolis views from some of the upper floors are genuinely breathtaking, especially during that magic hour just before sunset when the Parthenon seems to glow. But here’s what I really appreciated: you’re close enough to the action that you can stumble back after exploring Plaka’s winding streets, yet far enough from the main tourist drags that you’re not dealing with constant street noise or those aggressive souvenir vendors. The staff – and this might sound small but it matters – actually gave me directions like a local would, not just the obvious tourist route everyone takes.
The rooms themselves feel more spacious than typical European city hotels, with these floor-to-ceiling windows that flood everything with natural light during the day. Honestly, the beds are some of the most comfortable I’ve encountered in Greece (and I’ve stayed in my fair share of places there). The bathrooms have this rainfall shower situation that’s become pretty standard in upscale hotels, but theirs actually has decent water pressure – you’d be surprised how often that’s not the case. Air conditioning works like a dream too, which, trust me, you’ll appreciate if you’re visiting during those sweltering summer months when Athens turns into an oven.
What really sealed the deal for me was the attention to details that show they actually think about what travelers need. There are plenty of outlets positioned where you’d naturally want them, the WiFi doesn’t mysteriously cut out every twenty minutes, and the front desk folks genuinely seem to enjoy helping rather than just going through the motions. I watched them help another guest figure out the metro system with actual enthusiasm – not something you see everywhere. With a 9.3 rating, it’s clear I’m not the only one who left impressed. It’s the kind of place where the luxury feels earned rather than forced, if that makes sense.

This was a lovely and spacious apartment. The host was very helpful and friendly, and the location was fantastic, within walkable distance to many nearby stores/subway/attractions. Great value for money, highly recommended!

Our first visit to Athens, and we liked it so much we wanted to stay a little longer and our hotel didn't have space, so we found this place. Our hotel had been good, it was a bit northeast in a quieter area, and had a great rooftop terrace with breakfast, and we were happy there. But this place was amazing. It was at least four times bigger than our suite for three people had been, plus full kitchen, big bathroom, and it is in great condition, just like in the pictures. It is in the busy and touristy area, which is either an advantage or not depending on what you want. The washer is a handy bonus, and the owner (who has a shop downstairs) is fantastic – helpful, knowledgeable, efficient, kind. If you can get this place, book it.
What could be improved: I'd pick a place with character over a stale hotel room any time, as long as it's clean (and this is truly spotless in the apartment). But part of the charm is in these old buildings, with old shared staircases, even if they don't always look so great from the outside. You might find the windows could use a clean (but you're not there for the view, it's only onto the adjacent buildings). And it's a hassle (for everywhere we stayed in Greece) that there's only one key, and power is off when you're out (no charging phone or laptop). Energy-friendly, but really inconvenient. Here at least the AC can stay on when you're not there, so it's better than anywhere else we stayed for that. Highly recommend the place, and the owner.Karen from United States – 10 October 2024 (10/10)

MiCasa SuCasa lived up to its name. I have always heard this means my house, your house. The owner was fantastic at communicating prior to our arrival. Spoke very good English. Did not just hand me the keys and say have a nice stay. He showed me how things worked, from the lock and buzzer at the street to operating the Air Conditioners. There were things I really needed to learn. The apartment was in great condition and decorated very well. It had everything my family needed. Very comfortable. Location was perfect! Great immersion into the Athens culture. The owner provided us with a paper map. (I really needed and used) He gave us an overview of the area which was very useful and helpful. If I ever visit Athens again, I will not look for any place but MiCasa SuCasa.
What could be improved: It would be nice to have a second set of keys. A family member wanted to explore when I was exhausted and wanted to turn in.
