Palladian Home Overview

You know what struck me first about Palladian Home? The name actually makes perfect sense once you see the place – there’s something genuinely classical about the architecture that doesn’t feel forced or pretentious. I mean, it’s clearly a 4-star property, but it has this understated elegance that honestly surprised me. The 8.7 rating it’s pulling makes total sense when you spend time there.

What I really appreciated was how the staff seemed to actually remember guests – not in that rehearsed way some places do, but like they genuinely cared about making your stay work. Check-in was smooth (I arrived around 3 PM on a Thursday, so maybe I just hit a good time), and the person at the front desk knew the neighborhood well enough to give me real recommendations, not just the obvious tourist spots. The rooms have this comfortable, lived-in quality without feeling worn down – think well-chosen furniture that’s meant to last, decent lighting for actually reading, and bathrooms that are properly appointed without going overboard on marble and gold fixtures.

The thing that sealed it for me, though, was the attention to those small details that separate a good stay from a great one. The Wi-Fi actually works throughout the building, the walls are thick enough that you’re not hearing every conversation in the hallway, and – this might sound minor but trust me – the beds are set at the right height so you’re not climbing up or falling down to sleep. I stayed there during what seemed like a busy period (lots of business travelers around), but the common areas never felt crowded or chaotic. There’s parking available, which honestly can be a real headache in some areas, so that’s worth noting if you’re driving. The whole place has this calm, professional vibe that works whether you’re there for work or just want a solid base for exploring. It’s not trying to be the flashiest option around, but sometimes that’s exactly what you want – a place that does the fundamentals really well and lets you focus on whatever brought you to town in the first place.

Very friendly and helpful. I had a large room with a balcony in front the square. Excellent breakfast on the other side of the square.
    Central location.

Palladium Home is a small hotel located right in the Plaka, or Old Town.Rooms are small, old but clean. Small bathroom. Walk out the door and have your choice of a number of small restaurants and plenty of tourist-type shops. We loved eating at the Greek Trattoria just outside the door! Try the orange pie!

warning: There are about 8 stairs leading up to the first floor, and there is no side railing, so this could present issues for some. If you stay on the 2nd or 3rd floor, you will need to go up MANY stairs! Also, taxis and cars are not able to drive up to the hotel door, so be prepared to schlep your bags a half-block or so. Despite these issues, we -a 79 year old couple with some mobility issues- still loved staying here! Staff is amazing, free breakfast at the nearby restaurant was terrific, just make sure you get one of the two rooms on the lowest floor if you have any mobility issues or can't do stairs.
