Pari’s House in Plaka Athens Overview

You know what struck me first about Pari’s House in Plaka Athens? It’s tucked away in one of those narrow cobblestone streets where you can actually hear your footsteps echo off the old buildings at night. I mean, you’re literally in the heart of Plaka here – and I’m talking about the real Plaka, not the touristy strip with all the souvenir shops. This is where locals still hang their laundry from wrought-iron balconies and where you’ll catch the scent of jasmine drifting down from hidden courtyards.

The place itself feels more like staying at your well-traveled Greek aunt’s house than a typical hotel (honestly, that’s probably exactly what Pari was going for). The rooms have this authentic lived-in quality – think exposed stone walls that have probably seen a century or two, paired with modern touches that actually work. No fancy marble everything, but the beds are seriously comfortable, and the AC doesn’t sound like a freight train, which… let me tell you, matters a lot during those sweltering August nights. What really gets me is how quiet it stays despite being right in the middle of everything. Sure, you might hear the occasional late-night conversation from people wandering back from dinner, but it’s more charming than disruptive.

The location is honestly unbeatable if you want to experience Athens the way it’s meant to be experienced. You can walk to the Acropolis in maybe ten minutes – and I mean the actual walk up, not just getting to the entrance where all the tour buses dump everyone off. There’s this little taverna around the corner (I won’t spoil the discovery, but look for the one with the grape vines growing over the entrance) where the owner will probably end up telling you stories about the neighborhood while pouring way too much wine. The Monastiraki flea market is close enough that you can pop over for coffee and people-watching without making it a whole expedition. And here’s something most people don’t think about – you’re positioned perfectly to avoid the worst of the cruise ship crowds that flood certain parts of the old town during the day. The rating speaks for itself really, and after spending a few days here, I get why guests are so enthusiastic about the place. It’s that rare find where you feel like you’re getting an insider’s view of the city rather than just checking boxes off a tourist itinerary.

  • Adntro from Spain (10/10)

The apartment is located in the best part of Plaka, great views, the host left for us the fridge with water and fruit, soft drinks, coffee…the apartment is fully equiped and just PERFECT. on top of this, the owner is fantastic, helpful and polite.

This is just an amazing place to stay and enjoy Athens. Highly recommended. Dont think twice.

  • Tommy from Sweden (10/10)

Location is amaznig, super close to many restaurants with good variety and opening hours.
I think within hundred meters you had so many different options, if you wanted brunch, just some baked goods or the nearby grocery store.
On top of this John also provided some basic breakfast essentials which was very appreciated for our kids

  • Maadiah from Saudi Arabia (10/10)

I stayed in the apartment for 5 days, great and special location in the heart of Plaka, the fun and lively neighborhood, admired, overlooking a fantastic view, and below the apartment there are restaurants, cafes and a special restaurant for a delicious breakfast, and everything around you is within walking distance of tourist shops, the apartment is cozy and the beds and pillows are very comfortable. The photos are true to reality. The famous options in nothing and it has everything. What you need, and the host is friendly, hospitable, generous, helpful, easy and fast around the clock. I recommend staying in this apartment that overlooks the most beautiful view from the beautiful interior..

  • Rebecca from Australia (10/10)

What did we like? Everything! The apartment is so comfortable, well-appointed and beautifully located – close enough to walk to many of the main tourist sites, with restaurants, cafes and shopping nearby. Moreover, the host is friendly, relaxed and generous, a real example of Greek hospitality, and helpful when needed – he kindly organised a transfer to the airport for us. While the apartment is on a square with restaurants beneath, it is not noisy, with effective double glazing and the bedroom situated to the rear.

In addition to all these fundamentals though, this place has great atmosphere – views of the Acropolis at dawn and sunset, the gorgeous greenery of the square and on occasion, great live music on a neighbouring rooftop terrace. After a day full of activities, it is relaxing and special to come back here.

  • Ayca from Turkey (10/10)

I’ve been traveling to Athens for many years, but this trip was particularly special as it was to celebrate my mother’s 60th birthday. We chose Pari’s house not only for its prime location in the heart of Plaka but also for the stunning, uninterrupted views of the Acropolis. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a thoughtful touch—glasses of prosecco awaiting us—a personal gesture from John that truly set the tone for our stay. His hospitality and attention to detail were evident from the very start.

The location is simply unbeatable. Whether you want to explore Athens’ top attractions or enjoy a quiet evening stroll, everything is within walking distance. For those looking to venture further, the house is conveniently close to metro, bus, and taxi services, ensuring safe and easy access at all hours.

The home itself is impeccably decorated, blending style with comfort. The kitchen and bathroom are fully equipped, offering more than what you would expect from even a high-end hotel, allowing you to truly feel at home. It’s the kind of place where you can experience Athens not just as a tourist, but as if you are living there.

John, our host, was always available to answer questions and provided excellent local recommendations, almost like having a private concierge. His quick and attentive responses made our stay even more enjoyable.

We are already looking forward to returning to this delightful home. For anyone considering a stay in Athens, Pari’s house is an experience not to be missed.
