The Fancy Philosopher Apartment Overview
You know what caught me off guard about The Fancy Philosopher Apartment? The name actually makes sense once you step inside. I mean, it sounds pretentious at first – and honestly, I was a bit skeptical when I booked it – but there’s something genuinely thoughtful about how this place is put together that separates it from your typical four-star spot.
The apartment has this lived-in elegance that feels more like staying at a well-traveled friend’s place than a hotel. There are books tucked into unexpected corners (real ones, not just decorator spines), and the furniture looks like it was chosen by someone who actually cares about comfort over Instagram photos. The kitchen – which is surprisingly well-equipped for a place like this – has those little touches that show someone was thinking: decent coffee maker, sharp knives that actually cut things, proper wine glasses instead of those plastic things that make everything taste weird. The 8.9 rating it’s got feels about right, maybe even a touch conservative. Sure, the bathroom could use better lighting (you’ll want to do your makeup by the window), and the Wi-Fi occasionally decides to take a philosophical break of its own, but these are minor gripes in the grand scheme of things.
What really sold me was how quiet it gets at night – and I’m someone who usually needs earplugs in the city. The walls are thick enough that you’re not hearing your neighbor’s late-night phone calls or morning alarms, which is honestly rare these days. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward too; no hovering desk clerk trying to upsell you on breakfast packages or spa treatments. They just give you the keys, show you where everything is, and let you settle in. The whole experience feels more mature somehow – like it’s designed for people who’ve stayed in enough places to know what actually matters. If you’re the type who appreciates those thoughtful details over flashy amenities, you’ll probably love it here. Just don’t expect a pool or 24-hour room service – this isn’t that kind of place, and that’s exactly why it works.
Travelers should reserve a hotel in Athens at least two months ahead for major events like cultural festivals, ensuring the best rates and prime locations near ancient attractions.

A very nice apartment, located in the center. You can reach all the places to visit on foot, only if you visit Piraeus or the beach you need means of transport.
A generous living room, a very well equipped kitchen, all rooms had their own bathroom (3 in number) and in addition there was a service bathroom attached to the living room.
The wonderful terrace of the apartment with the sofa area, with a table and chairs…superb.
There was a small park right in front of the block, and there were some nice terraces in the area. I haven't tried them.Cafif from Israel (9/10)
The apartment is beautifully renovated, very comfortable' and in a great location in Kolonaki. The showers needed to be a bit cleaner, no place to hang towels in main bathroom.
