The Roc Club, A Grecotel Hotel to Live Overview
Honestly, when I first pulled up to The Roc Club, A Grecotel Hotel, I wasn’t sure what to expect – the name had me thinking it might be some sort of party resort situation. But you know what? This place is actually something quite special, and I mean that in the best possible way. It’s got this effortless Greek sophistication that doesn’t feel like it’s trying too hard, which is refreshing when you’ve stayed at too many places that seem designed by committee.
The whole “A Grecotel Hotel to Live” tagline makes more sense once you’re actually there for a few days. It really does feel like you’re living somewhere rather than just passing through – there’s this natural rhythm to the place that I haven’t experienced at many five-star properties. The staff remembers your coffee order by day two (I’m particular about my cappuccinos, and they nailed it every time), and there’s this genuine warmth that goes beyond the usual professional politeness. The common areas have this lived-in elegance – think beautiful linens that actually look comfortable rather than just photogenic, and seating areas where you’d actually want to hang out with a book rather than just snap a quick Instagram shot.
What really got me was the attention to details you don’t usually notice until they’re done right. The lighting throughout the property shifts naturally with the time of day, so you’re never squinting at harsh fluorescents or stumbling around in romantic-but-impractical dimness. The soundproofing is excellent – I’m usually the person who ends up next to the family with three kids or the couple having relationship drama at 2 AM, but here I actually slept well every night. And speaking of practical stuff, check-in was refreshingly smooth without that awkward “we’re upgrading your experience” upselling routine that makes you feel like you’re being worked over. The 9.2 rating this place has earned feels completely justified – it’s the kind of score that comes from consistently getting the fundamentals right rather than flashy gestures that photograph well but don’t actually improve your stay. I’d honestly come back, which isn’t something I say often about places in this price range.
Best hotels in Athens range from charming boutique properties in the historic Plaka district to elegant rooftop hotels with stunning views of the Acropolis and Parthenon.

The staff and food
What could be improved: Big group of youngsters and multiple families as we thought it was adult but very niceShina from United Kingdom – 30 May 2025 (8/10)
The staff are so kind and accommodating
What could be improved: The pool wasn’t heated which was challengingElliot from Australia – 1 May 2025 (9/10)
The modern hotel was a fantastic stay. They were incredibly accomodating for our 10 month old baby. The hotel sits a 20 min drive from Athens city centre in the beautiful Vouligameni area. We did a day trip into Athens that was super easy using Uber (taxi). Staying out in the area at a beautiful hotel made the trip even better.
What could be improved: On occasion the pool bar wasn’t staffed, although it was grey and 20 degrees (also in pre-season, mid April).Krisztina from Hungary – 15 April 2025 (9/10)
The hotel has a good location, almost at the seaside. The interior design is so elegant and modern but warm!- Really nice to be there. The room was quite big with a nice view to the sea. The bed was comfortable. At the reception everybody was very polite and kind! The outdoor terrace is nice also the pool area.
What could be improved: The breakfast was not good. lots of sweet pastries and only egg dishes on the menu. (we had egg alergy) We had to ask for cold cuts separately so they brought us a slice of speck ham and half a slice of turkey ham. There were no vegetables or fish and the cold cuts were funny little, one and a half slices of meat for two people On the third morning they said if we asked for salmon or avocado they would have it in the kitchen. The waiter pours water and orange juice, or you have to ask for it if he's not paying attention. This is rubbish from a 5 star hotel.Perhaps everyone would be happier with a buffet breakfast at such an accommodation.John from United Kingdom – 13 March 2025 (10/10)
